Thank you for investing in yourself, and for looking for resources that remind you of your truth and your power. I know how hard it is to step outside your comfort zone and reach for support beyond yourself. By being here, you're already doing exactly that. So, congratulations. 🪞

My name is Salma, the founder and writer behind Get Out The Trap. I like to think of our world as a maze with many layers, kind of like a Russian doll. And those layers can either be moved through freely, or they can trap us.

At my core, I'm a teacher and a businesswoman, and coming to terms with those two identities has been its own challenge. I won't call myself a healer, though I'm told my presence is deeply healing. Labels have their own kind of trap. The truth is I take the form of whatever spirit needs me to, as I bridge the gap between the spiritual realm and the physical one.

For as long as I can remember, I've been clairsentient and claircognizant, meaning I've always had a clear sense of feeling and a clear sense of knowing. These gifts got me out of a lot of trouble growing up. But I've had my fair share of traps to find my way out of too, and I'm continuously doing so. As long as we're breathing, the work is never finished.

My story begins with immigrant parents from Somalia, navigating the world to find a safe place to call home.

My earliest years were some of our most unstable. My parents struggled to find footing, which meant many years of homelessness and temporary living situations. It wasn't until I was 14 that they finally settled into a house and found some kind of stability.

I leaned heavily on the heavenly realms to get me through those early years. I remember vividly being taken on trips through out-of-body experiences, shown that heaven was accessible from anywhere I was, no matter my external circumstances.

And although my experiences with the spirit world contradicted everything happening in my physical world, I realize now that the instability I lived through was exactly what I needed to learn the lessons that unlocked my gifts.

Growing up, I held two worlds at once, the perspective of my Somali parents, and the completely different set of rules and doctrines poured into me through American school and community. It made navigating life really difficult. I didn't know it then, but that was the very thing that led me to my own liberation.

Having two different belief systems pouring into me helped me understand the nature of humanity, and it helped me pinpoint the illusions in both of them.

I owe my entire life to my story. But I am no longer owned by it.

I believe our stories own us, until we break them down, fully understand them, and release them to a higher power. That's the moment we gain access to choice, the most powerful gift bestowed upon us all.

That belief became my whole life's work.

Since then, I've gone through the fire myself, grief, motherhood, the deepest excavation of the programs that were keeping me small. And I came out the other side free, and finally able to receive the abundance that was always meant for me.

Now I read films as mirrors, showing people the subconscious programs quietly running their lives, and I walk people all the way home to themselves. Because the moment you find the program that's been keeping you looping, it's over. You get to choose again.
